Leopard on the prowl in Ayodhya for 2 months captured

Ayodhya: A leopard that had been roaming in the forests of Ayodhya Cantonment for two months was trapped in a net laid by the Army on Tuesday morning. The leopard was rescued after a dramatic five-hour operation involving the Army, police, and forest officials from Lucknow and Ayodhya. According to eyewitnesses, the big cat got trapped in the iron mesh around 6am and struggled violently to break free for nearly an hour. It repeatedly tried to leap over the barrier, growling and ramming the fence with force. “It was roaring and trying to claw its way out, then sitting down exhausted before making another attempt,” said a local villager. Alarmed by the roars, villagers informed the Army and forest officials, following which the area was sealed off to prevent any public movement. A team of veterinarians and tranquilisation experts was rushed from Lucknow. After hours of cautious manoeuvring, the leopard was successfully tranquilised and safely secured in a metal cage.Divisional forest officer Prakhar Gupta said, “The leopard sustained minor injuries to one leg due to entanglement in the iron fence. It has been given first aid by veterinarians, and its condition is stable. The big cat will be shifted to the Lucknow zoo for further medical care and observation.” Officials added that the same leopard was sighted multiple times in the Cantonment and nearby forested zones in the past two months, creating panic among local residents.
