Lucknow: UP’s Aira, Anusha Singh, Ashi Shamseri, Tashi Kiran and Raminder Deep Kaur secured victories in first round of main draw of AITA Super Series Under-18 Boys and Girls Tennis Tournament to reach pre-quarterfinals of girls’ singles. UP’s third seed Rishi Yadav, fourth seed Aryaman Chauhan, fifth seed Aniruddh Kumar, sixth seed Raghav Prabhu, Ansh Saxena, Harsh Singh, Anuj Kumar also reached last 16.The matches were organised by Sports Development Society at La Martiniere Lawn Tennis Facility on Monday.Ira won over Haryana’s Aanya Sahni with a scoreline of 6-4, 6-3. Anusha Singh defeated Geetika Saraswat 6-3, 6-1, while Ashi Shamseri won against fellow UP player Devyani Shukla, 6-0, 6-0. Tashi Kiran and Raminder Deep Kaur advanced to next round via walkovers.Eighth seed Vanisha Jadaun had to retire against Delhi’s Mehar Sharma.In boys’ singles, third seed Rishi Yadav defeated Maharashtra’s Arnav Chaudhary 6-0, 6-3, while fourth seed Aryaman Chauhan overcame a tough challenge from West Bengal’s Shreyansh, winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. Fifth seed Aniruddh Kumar defeated Shubham Pandey 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. Sixth seed Raghav Prabhu had a straightforward win over Delhi’s Sudit Goyal, 6-2, 6-2.Ansh Saxena won a three-setter against Mohammad Sufiyan, 7-6(3), 2-6, 6-2. Harsh Singh and Anuj Kumar won, defeating Yash Patel and Mehar Khosla, respectively. Haryana’s top seed Harsh Malik defeated UP’s Patterson Chhavi 6-2, 6-0 and Maharashtra’s Shaurya bested Virat Singh 6-1, 6-2.
