CM: Ensure tap water in every Vindhya, B’khand home by Dec 15

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday directed officials to ensure that every household in the Vindhya and Bundelkhand regions gets tap water supply by Dec 15 and third-party audits completed to ensure quality. Reviewing progress of Jal Jeevan Mission – Har Ghar Nal Yojana, the CM said Phase-II and Phase-III projects with 90% completion must be completed by Dec 15 in line with Phase-I timelines. Projects that are 75% complete are targeted to complete by Mar 2026. “The mission is also about public health, women’s dignity and improving the quality of rural life, so there will be no compromise on timelines or quality,” said Yogi, assuring that funding will not be a constraint.Senior officials from Namami Gange, rural water supply department, jal nigam and various implementing agencies attended the meeting, along with representatives from NCC Ltd, Larsen & Toubro, Megha Engineering, PNC Infratech, IC Infra, Power Mech, and Kalpataru Projects. CM discussed field-level challenges, pending work and payments, stressing adherence to quality standards and deadlines.Currently, 611 surface and groundwater source-based projects worth Rs 90,223 crore are being implemented across UP. Tap water connections have been provided to over 1.98 crore rural households in 85,364 villages, and 34,274 villages are receiving regular water supply. Centre’s proposal to extend Jal Jeevan Mission deadline to Dec 2028 and increase project funding is under consideration, but CM affirmed UP would continue work with its own resources to deliver benefits on time.Central govt nodal officers inspected 147 projects in 74 districts and found 132 satisfactory. On grievance redressal, Jal Samadhan portal (https://jalsamadhan.in) received 62,688 complaints, of which 46,354 were resolved. The portal has 13.5 crore hits. Complaints are being registered via toll-free No. 1800-121-2164.
