SP allying with party that had sent JP to jail: Pathak | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak launched a scathing attack on the Samajwadi Party and its president, Akhilesh Yadav, saying that the SP has always been opposed to democracy. He claimed that the SP is conspiring to gain power by aligning with the Congress, which had crushed democracy by imposing the Emergency in the country. The deputy chief minister said that the Congress, with whom Akhilesh Yadav is now sharing the stage, is the same party that had sent Jayaprakash Narayan, a protector of democracy, to jail. “On one hand, they garland Jayaprakash Narayan’s statue, and on the other, they ally with those who imprisoned him; this is sheer political hypocrisy,” he said. Pathak added that the SP has nothing to do with democracy or the Constitution; its only aim is to grab headlines and occupy the seat of power. He said that Akhilesh Yadav’s politics is based on family and self-interest, whereas the Bharatiya Janata Party is a party for all sections of society, working in accordance with the Constitution framed by Bhimrao Ambedkar. He further said that the BJP is celebrating the birth anniversary of Jayaprakash Narayan across the country and the world, noting that Jana Sangh and RSS workers were jailed in the largest numbers during the Emergency. Many socialists were also imprisoned, but the SP has now forgotten their sacrifice and is engaged in power bargaining with the Congress. Pathak said that the people are aware of everything. “The SP is no longer a party of democracy but a party solely focused on power. The BJP, on the other hand, will continue to serve the people and protect the Constitution,” he added.
