Cop suspended for assaulting BTech boy over speeding

Kanpur: A police outpost incharge was suspended on Monday after a video went viral on social media where he was seen assaulting a BTech student who dared to question his authority under which he was brought to the outpost for alleged violation of traffic rules.The incident occurred in Kidwai Nagar on Sunday when Akshay Pratap Singh (24) of Naramau, Bithoor, was stopped by out-post in-charge Amit Vikram Tripathi for over speeding at Gaushala intersection. When the student objected to Tripathi slapping him for speeding, he was thrashed mercilessly. When Akshay said, “this is not right,” Tripathi became even more enraged and threatened to “fix him up.” Abhishek Dubey, Akshay’s friend, recorded the incident and made it viral on the internet. In response to the viral video, DCP South Deependra Nath Chaudhary suspended Tripathi and ordered a probe by ACP Babupurwa.
