‘Early detection vital for mgmt of OSA’

Lucknow: Early detection and a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach are crucial for the effective management of obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), said experts.They were speaking during a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme at Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) on Monday to mark National Orthodontist Day. OSA is a disorder where the upper airway repeatedly collapses during sleep, causing breathing to pause or become very shallow. Prof CM Singh noted that OSA impacts not just individuals but society as a whole. Programme coordinator and head of the dental department Prof Shaili Mahajan stressed that early diagnosis enables successful interventions through orthodontic appliances and growth modification. CMS Prof Vikram Singh spoke about the broad social and health consequences of OSA. TNN
