‘Gas build-up led to blast in coaching’ | Lucknow News
Lucknow/Kanpur: Two days after a powerful explosion ripped through a coaching centre-cum-library in Farrukhabad, killing two youths and leaving five students seriously injured, police registered an FIR against an unidentified person on Monday. They claimed that structural negligence led to the coaching centre blast.According to sub inspector Vishesh Kumar, in charge of the ITI outpost, who lodged the FIR, the explosion occurred around 2.50 pm on Oct 4. The blast tore through the structure, bringing down the roof and walls. Injured victims were rushed to the hospital, where Aakash Kashyap (28) of Ninaua village and Aakash Saxena (25) of Vijadharpur, both from Fatehgarh, succumbed during treatment. He said that police investigations revealed that the coaching centre was operational for about a month without any official approval or safety measures. Preliminary findings suggest the explosion was caused by methane gas accumulation and possible structural negligence. “A case has been registered against an unidentified person,” said SP Fatehgarh, Aarti Singh.
