Eco Run today to blend health with eco awareness

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Eco Tourism Development Board and the Global Wildlife Fair will jointly organise an Eco Run at the Okhla Bird Sanctuary to mark the Global Mammal Big Day on Sunday.It aims to blend fitness with environmental consciousness, celebrating the rich diversity of mammals while promoting their protection and the health of the planet.Announcing the event, minister for tourism and culture Jaiveer Singh said, “The Eco Run is not just about running — it’s about reconnecting with nature. Participants will experience the beauty of Okhla Bird Sanctuary while contributing to the global movement for wildlife conservation. From the smallest bat to the mighty elephant, every mammal plays a vital role in maintaining ecological balance, and this event reminds us of that shared responsibility.The Eco Run will be flagged off at 7am from Gate No. 2 of Okhla Bird Sanctuary. The route will take participants through scenic stretches of the sanctuary, where they will witness the coexistence of urban life and wild habitat. Conservationists, educators, fitness enthusiasts, and citizens will participate in the event.“Through the Eco Run, we hope to inspire people to combine fitness with awareness—to run not just for themselves, but for nature,” the minister said.
