‘Made a lot of mistakes’: Doctor dies by suicide at actor-fiancée Sohani Kumari’s flat in Hyderabad; posted video before death | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: A 29-year-old doctor, Sawai Singh, died by suicide at his fiancée’s apartment in Prashasan Nagar, Jubilee Hills, on Saturday evening. Singh’s fiancée is actress Sohani Kumari, who saw him hanging motionless around 6.30pm after returning from work to her rented flat.Singh, a native of Rajasthan, had joined Kumari for coffee around 8am on Saturday before they left for their respective offices at 11am. “Singh worked as a doctor in an e-commerce company, where he treated the workers,” Jubilee Hills inspector K Venkateshwar Reddy said.Upon returning home from work around 6.30pm, Kumari found Singh hanging in the house. “I opened the door and found him hanging in the dining area,” the complainant stated. The Jubilee Hills police shifted the body for postmortem after the forensic clues team collected evidence from the scene.Moments before his death, Singh reportedly posted a 15-second video on his Instagram account. “Before taking the extreme step, he uploaded a video on his Instagram page in which he stated, ‘I have made a lot of mistakes in my life, and I will not repeat such mistakes again’,” Kumari stated in her complaint.The couple met on Instagram in Feb 2025 and got engaged in July. Kumari told the police that she suspects unresolved financial matters between Singh and his ex-girlfriend may have driven him to take the extreme step. The police have registered a case of suspicious death under Section 194 of the BNSS and have initiated an investigation.
