Mission Shakti in Shahjahanpur: Mass campaign targets Anaemia among women

NEW DELHI: UP’s Shahjahanpur district has launched a large-scale drive under Mission Shakti campaign to combat anaemia among women on Wednesday. The initiative saw women across villages and towns consume Iron-Folic Acid (IFA) tablets with lemon water. To encourage compliance, each woman received a free strip of IFA tablets, with a system requiring return of empty blister packs to receive a fresh strip every 11th day.The campaign was held simultaneously at over 1,000 Panchayat Bhawans, 2,267 schools, 2,663 Anganwadi centres, 300 Arogya Mandirs and hundreds of private institutions. The drive was supported by photography contests, rangoli competitions and social media reels to boost awareness. Digital tools were also used. A district portal allowed women to register consumption, download personalised certificates and enter a lucky draw for household prizes. By mid-day, over 2.65 lakh certificates had been issued and nearly 3.6 lakh women had taken the tablets.
