The victim, Manisha, daughter of Nirankar of Pyarepurwa hamlet in Manjhara Taukli, was cutting fodder in her field when the predator suddenly leapt out of a sugarcane patch and attacked her.Hearing her screams, villagers rushed to the spot, forcing the wolf to flee. She was later admitted to the community health centre in Fakharpur. This was not the first attack. Janardan Prasad Lodhi of Bhauri village also had a narrow escape while sleeping in his veranda when the wolf became entangled in a mosquito net during an attempted attack. Children in Manjhara Taukli, Harirampurwa, Nareshpurwa, Ichharampurwa, Gandhiganj, Kesari Purwa, Bahorwa, and Sipahia Hulas villages have stopped going to school, while residents spend their nights on tractors or rooftops in fear.
