Wolf kills cattle in Bahraich

Bahraich: A wolf attacked ad killed a cattle tied in front of a house in Manjhara Taukli village of Bahraich on Wednesday. Villagers armed with sticks chased the animal, forcing it to leave the livestock and flee into the fields.In Babhanpurwa hamlet of Manjhara Taukli, the wolf dragged away a goat tied outside the village headman’s house. Hundreds of villagers rushed after it, and the animal eventually left the goat behind and escaped.Forest officials patrolling the area reached the spot soon after the incident. Forest Department teams are carrying out intensive combing operations to capture the predator, but despite continuous efforts, no success has been achieved yet. According to DFO Yadav, rescue operations are being conducted under the supervision of sector in-charges, supported by expert teams using two thermal drones, one additional drone camera, and multiple patrol squads. Camera traps have been installed at sensitive locations to track the animal’s movements.The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Uttar Pradesh, reviewed the operations and issued instructions for effective measures to control human-wildlife conflict.DFO Yadav said solar-powered CCTV cameras have been installed in the affected villages to help identify and rescue the predator safely. In addition, three trapping cages have been placed at possible hideouts.A command center has been set up at the division level to coordinate efforts.
