Lucknow: Body of the seven-year-old boy swept away in a drain was found after a 20-hour rescue operation. The child, Veeru, was swept away in drain connected to Haider Canal near Hussainganj Kila Chowki on Wednesday evening.After a 20-hour-long search operation, the body was found on Thursday morning near the 1090 crossing. Lucknow Municipal Corporation teams, divers and police personnel carried out the operation all night using floodlights, nets and heavy machines.Eyewitness Farid said the boy’s hands were visible once water level in the drain began to recede. A machine operator alerted those present, following which the body was retrieved.Veeru fell into the drain while playing in the locality on Wednesday evening. Senior administrative officers, police and municipal staff were deployed at the site.
