Devpt projects, spl prayers in Kashi’s b’day bouquet to Modi

Varanasi: Special ‘Dugdhabhishek’ (milk offering ritual) to goddess Ganga, blood donation camp, mega sanitation drive, and launch of development projects worth Rs 130 crore marked the 75th birthday celebrations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi on Wednesday.Events began early morning at Dashaswamedh Ghat with dozens of ‘batuks’ (disciples of Vedic schools) performing ‘Dugdhabhishek’ ritual in the presence of City South MLA Neelkanth Tiwari. Namami Gange activists offered a 75-metre ‘chunari’ to goddess Ganga. Varanasi Municipal Corporation celebrated PM’s birthday by holding an event where Mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari laid foundation for 575 projects and inaugurated 75 projects worth Rs 130 crore. Mayor distributed a 75-kilogram ‘laddu’ and launched ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ drive which would run from Sept 17 to Oct 2. BHU organised a marathon that was flagged off by Vice Chancellor Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi.As part of the countrywide ‘Healthy Women Empowered Family’ drive and ‘National Nutrition Month’, medical examination of infants, women, adolescents, adults and elderly was conducted.
