Vehicle carrying Rs10L worth IMFL to Bihar seized, 1 held | Lucknow News

Lucknow: Haryana-made liquor worth over Rs 10 lakh was recovered from a private vehicle on Tuesday night in the city. Over the past fortnight, more than half a dozen cases of seizures of illegal or illicit liquor were reported from the city.District excise officer Karunendra Singh Sachan said that acting on a tip-off, a team of officials was deputed over Sultanpur Road in Gosainganj locality. An informer alerted excise department officials about transportation of liquor to Bihar from the city. On intercepting the vehicle, the vehicle owner sought reason for being stopped, but as he sensed trouble, the driver sped away towards one of the villages situated off the main road. After a hot chase, a team comprising excise officials Rahul Singh, Vivek Singh and Shikhar Mall nabbed the vehicle. The car driver, identified as Mohan, was arrested. Crates of India made foreign liquor being smuggled into the state illegally were seized jointly with police from Gosainganj police station.
