Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) received an overwhelming 15,75,760 applications for the sub-inspector (civil police) and equivalent posts direct recruitment 2025. The recruitment drive, one of the largest in recent years, aims to fill 4,543 vacancies, including posts for women in the newly formed PAC battalions.According to officials, the recruitment notification was issued on August 12, 2025, inviting online applications till September 11, 2025. The vacancies include 4,242 posts of SIs, 135 platoon commanders in PAC, 60 platoon commanders in the Special Security Force (SSF), and 106 women platoon commanders for newly constituted women PAC battalions in Budaun, Lucknow, and Gorakhpur.The application process witnessed massive participation, with 15,72,261 candidates successfully completing the form submission along with fee payment by the last date. To accommodate candidates’ requests for corrections, the board allowed an online application modification window from September 12 (6:00 am) to September 15 (6:00 AM). During this period, 82,461 applicants availed themselves of the facility to edit their details.Similarly, acknowledging technical issues faced by some applicants during fee payment, the board reopened the payment window from September 13 (6:30 pm) to September 15 (6:00 am). Out of 8,396 applicants who attempted payment earlier but failed due to technical glitches, 3,499 candidates successfully completed the process within the extended window. With this, the final tally of applicants stands at 15,75,760 — comprising 11,66,386 male and 4,09,374 female candidates.The UPPRPB has begun preparations for the written examination, which forms the first stage of the selection process. Officials confirmed that details regarding the exam schedule and centres will be announced at least four weeks in advance of the test. The commission has received a staggering 12,36,253 applications for 7,466 posts of assistant teacher (trained graduate category) in govt schools. This recruitment has officially become the largest in UPPSC’s history in terms of the number of applicants. Previously, the highest number of applications was for Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer (RO/ARO) recruitment 2023, which received 10.76 lakh applications. Comparatively, the LT Grade recruitment attracted 1.6 lakh more applications. The recruitment is being held after a gap of seven years. According to the advertisement issued by the commission, out of the total 7,466 vacancies, 4,860 are reserved for men, 2,525 for women, and 81 posts are allocated for persons with disabilities. The recruitment covers 15 different subjects. The application process ran from July 28 to August 28, with the official notification released on July 14. During this period, around 9.5 lakh new One-Time Registrations (OTR) were generated, increasing the total number of OTRs from 21.75 lakh to 31.04 lakh. This surge highlights the growing popularity of the commission’s online recruitment process and the interest of candidates.In comparison, the 2018 LT Grade recruitment for 10,768 posts received only 7,63,317 applications. Despite lesser number of vacancies this time, applications have increased by nearly 4.5 lakh, making the LT Grade recruitment the biggest opportunity for aspiring teachers in the state. With the application process now complete, UPPSC has started the process of finalising exam centres. Due to the high volume of applications across the 15 subjects, the commission is facing challenges in centre allocation and is expected to announce the examination dates soon.
