‘Baby’s crying disturbed us’: Mother, lover killed two-year-old child in Telangana; both arrested | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: In a deeply disturbing case, a mother in Medak district confessed to killing her two-year-old daughter because the child’s constant crying at night “disturbed” her and her lover. The crime, which took place on June 4, remained hidden for months, only coming to light after the child’s disappearance triggered an investigation that eventually exposed a horrifying truth.Mamatha (23) and her paramour Shaik Fayaz (30) were arrested by Medak police after Mamatha admitted that they strangled the toddler in the night and buried her near a nala on the outskirts of Shabashpally village in Shivampet mandal on June 4. The authorities exhumed the child’s body on Friday and conducted a post-mortem examination. Mamatha’s father, Kotla Raju, reported her missing on May 27, after she arrived at his house on May 21 with her two children from her in-laws’ home but left the same day with her younger daughter and never returned. The family searched desperately, but Mamatha remained unreachable by phone, and none of her relatives could trace her. The investigation took a dramatic turn when police used technical surveillance to track Mamatha to Narasaraopet in Andhra Pradesh, where she was living with Fayaz. The couple was brought back to their village on Sept 11 for questioning. Under intense inquiry, Mamatha shockingly confessed that the baby’s incessant crying at night was preventing her from spending time with her lover. “We decided to kill her,” she admitted. The couple had planned the murder carefully. After riding a two-wheeler from Andhra Pradesh, they strangled the child during the night, buried her body, and fled before dawn. Shivampet sub-inspector Madhukar Reddy confirmed that a murder case was registered, and the couple’s phone was recovered as key evidence. The case has sent shockwaves in the village.
