‘Lafzon Ki Gathri’ captivates audience | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Three powerful stories Badi didi, Akeli and Yaadein were staged separately in a play ‘Lafzon Ki Gathri- Kuch Panne Part 2’ organised by Amren Foundation at UP Sangeet Natak Akademi on Friday. The first story ‘Yaadein’ written by Bhisham Sahani and directed by Seema Bhargava Pahwa is a heartfelt tale of two old friends reuniting in the twilight of their lives, they meet and discussed their past, the good and bad days and reminisce how happy they were in old days which reduces their present pain a bit. The play focuses on revisiting memories and silences that speak louder than words left the audience speechless. Characters were played by Seema Bhargava Pahwa and Ratna Pathak Shah.The second story Badi Didi originally adapted from Bade Bhai Sahab by Munshi Premchand and directed by Seema Bhargava Pahwa which portrays a humorous and heartwarming exploration of sibling rivalry and sisterhood. Two sisters, the elder one used to fail even after studying hard, scolds her sister in concern thinking about the difficulties their parents faced for sending them to study while the younger one even after playing comes first. The two sisters navigate love, admiration and discipline in their bond. Audience laughed heartily at their banter. Characters were played by Manukriti Pahwa and Jaya Virlley.The third story ‘Akeli’ written by Mannu Bhandari and directed by Seema Bhargava Pahwa focuses on the lonely life of Soma bua, an elderly woman whose son died years ago and husband has devoted his life to god. Stays in Haridwar and comes to visit Soma bua only once in a year. Soma bua searches for belonging and reaches every place in the neighbourhood, be it any function considering everyone as her own goes and gets the preparations done. In the end audience was seen in tears watching Soma bua heartbroken when she did not receive an invitation for her brother-in-law’s son’s wedding while she had already done all the preparations. Character was played by Anubha Fatehpura.
