CM to unveil medical facilities worth crores at RMLIMS today

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will unveil several new facilities for patients at Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) on Saturday.He will lay the foundation for the state’s first Gamma Knife machine bunker, inaugurate the Advanced Neuro Science Centre, and launch several other projects.The events will be part of the institute’s 5th foundation day celebrations, to be held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Gomtinagar. CM Yogi will be the chief guest, while deputy CM Brajesh Pathak and minister of state for medical education Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh will attend the event as special guests. Chief secretary Shashi Prakash Goel and principal secretary (medical education) Partha Sarathi Sensharma will also be present.Institute director Dr CM Singh said the foundation for a bunker to house the Gamma Knife machine will be laid. The bunker will cost around Rs 5 crore, while the machine itself, used for scar-free treatment of brain tumours, will be procured at Rs 48 crore.The CM will also inaugurate the Advanced Neuro Science Centre building, built at an expenditure of Rs 100 crore. The centre has 200 beds — 100 each for neurosurgery and neurology departments — with 60 beds reserved for ICU. In addition, Yogi will inaugurate an advanced robotic machine purchased at Rs 35 crore.“The institute has been witnessing rapid growth in recent years. For the first time in a decade, 166 doctors were recruited while the recruitment of 652 nursing officers is in its final stages,” said Dr Singh.
