From fields to gold: Top 2 LU medal winners are farmer’s daughters | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Proving that perseverance can overcome all odds, two students from humble farmer families have carved a place of honour in the academic world.Veerna Tiwari from Sitapur and Priyanshi Yadav from Lucknow not only excelled in their studies but also shouldered the responsibility of funding their education through giving tuition. Their determination, discipline, and self-belief have made them gold medalists. They will be awarded at Lucknow University convocation on Wednesday (Sept 10). For Veerna , a student of MA Medieval and Modern History at Lucknow University, success has been the outcome of relentless focus and dedication. Winning four gold medals for securing the highest marks, Veerna is the daughter of Sitapur-based farmer Rakesh Kumar Tiwari and homemaker Vineeta Tiwari. She balances her academics with teaching school students to manage her college fees. Her daily routine reflected both discipline and sacrifice, attending classes at Lucknow University from 11 am to 3 pm and then teaching children from classes 1 to 7 between 4 pm to 7 pm. Her determination also shone outside the classroom when she won the HN Bahuguna Smriti Samiti Debate at the university level. “My mantra has always been to stay focussed and dedicated. I believe that if you stay determined, no obstacle is too big. Clearing the UPPSC is not just my dream, but a way to honour the struggles of my parents and give back to society,” said Veerna. Equally inspiring is the journey of Priyanshi Yadav, a student of Divya Kripal College, Hardoi, who will walk away with six gold medals for achieving the highest marks and percentage in MSc Physics. Her success mantra lies in analyzing answers properly with special attention to numericals and diagrams, which helped her consistently outperform. Born to farmer Yugendra Yadav and homemaker Ram Darshini Yadav, Priyanshi shouldered both academic pressure and financial responsibilities. Attending classes in the morning, she dedicated her afternoons and evenings to teaching students from classes 1 to 12. Now, she works as a teacher at SN Education Public School. “Self-motivation is my biggest strength. My dream of becoming a Block Education Officer is driven by the desire to strengthen education at the grassroots level,” said Priyanshi.
