Serving the sick greater than pilgrimage: DyCM | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Calling the health department one in which service to people is the primary duty, health minister and Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak on Monday said that serving someone who is unwell gets a person more ‘punya’ than even Ganga snan or visiting temples.Speaking at a programme where Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath distributed appointment letters to lab technicians and junior assistants, Pathak said that those in the health department wondering how they could serve people by doing a desk job, it was important to ensure that they were not a hindrance to any work. “If your job is to move files and letters, do not sit over it. Do this work quickly and make sure work is carried out smoothly,” he said.Asking people to remember the state of health services in UP before and after 2017, Pathak said that while a lot of work was done, there was a need to take the state forward with greater speed. He listed various achievements of the BJP govt, including the opening of 25,500 Swasthya Arogya Mandir, where 80,000 patients are seen daily through the Sanjivani app.“There are 3,500 primary health centres, 950 CHCs, and better OPDs where minor operations are done for free. In addition to this, there are 85 district hospitals. From 17 medical colleges before 2017, we now have 80, including 44 in the govt sector. There are no shortages of medicines, and CT scans can be done for free in every district,” he said.In tertiary health care, Pathak added that there was a shortage of ultrasound centres, and the govt then identified those in the private sector, from where a patient can get scans done for free.
