UP Cong chief extends aid to flood-hit people in Punjab | Lucknow News
Lucknow: UP Congress chief Ajay Rai on Monday offered prayers for the flood-affected persons in Punjab. Seeking the Guru’s blessings for the safety of the people, he also handed over a cheque to extend financial aid to the victim families.Later, talking to reporters, he said that while natural disasters cannot be prevented, institutions established for disaster management at both national and state levels can be strengthened to ensure a swift response and maximum protection during such events. “In the flood-affected regions, there is a lack of food, clean drinking water, and medicines. To provide relief to those affected by this devastating natural disaster, Congress Party workers are delivering relief materials to the flood-hit areas,” he said. He reminded that during the UPA govt, the National Disaster Relief and Rescue Institute was significantly strengthened, and efforts were made to minimise damage with prompt action during disasters. However, in the past 11 years, the Modi govt has done negligible work in this area, which is very unfortunate.
