Govt doc among 3 arrested for playing PET ‘solver’ | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Lucknow police on Monday arrested three people, including a government doctor, for acting as a ‘solver’ in the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission’s (UPSSSC) Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET)-2025.The incident unfolded at Government Girls’ Inter College, Jiamau, when the examination centre received an alert from the control room about a candidate attempting the test on behalf of another. The police apprehended Ravish Kumar from Sheikhpura, Bihar, who was impersonating Sumit Yadav. Authorities confiscated a forged Aadhaar card featuring Sumit’s details but displaying Ravish’s photograph, along with a counterfeit admit card.During interrogation, Ravish confessed to being part of a solver gang and disclosed the identities of two accomplices. Acting swiftly on this information, three police teams, including the surveillance unit and Gautampalli police, arrested Vikas Kumar from Jamui, Bihar, and Dr. Amit Gupta, a medical officer stationed at CHC Bansdih in Ballia. “Investigations revealed that Amit Kumar, who appeared to be orchestrating the operation, charged around Rs 50,000 from aspirants to arrange a solver. Of this amount, Rs 25,000 was paid to individuals like Ravish Kumar or Vikas Kumar, who would impersonate legitimate candidates in exam halls. We recovered forged Aadhaar and admit cards, mobile phones, and evidence of incriminating transactions from their possession,” said Ashish Srivastava, deputy commissioner of police (Central). A case has been registered under multiple sections of the BNS and the Uttar Pradesh Public Examinations Ordinance, 2024, at Gautampalli police station. The accused were presented in court on Monday.
