Maya plans comeback with grand event on Kanshi Ram death anniv | Lucknow News
Lucknow: The Bahujan Samaj Party has decided to organise a grand event to observe the death anniversary of party founder Kanshi Ram at Manyawar Shri Kanshi Ram Ji Smarak Sthal in Lucknow on Oct 9.BSP president Mayawati will lead the event where she will lay the roadmap for the party to deal with political challenges. The BSP’s show of strength may not be less than a political rally, addressed by Mayawati, which will be the first such event since 2021. The decision was taken during a review meeting of the party’s UP unit in which Mayawati asked BSP workers to make the event a grand affair. This will be the first major event of the party since its organisational reconstitution, under which committees at division, district, sector, and booth levels have been constituted to make the organisation stronger. “As the party workers from all over the state will participate in the event and are expected to reach Lucknow a day in advance, the party has made sufficient arrangements already,” an official release said.“Due to the renovation of Kanshi Ram memorial, it is after a long time that a programme to pay tribute to the party’s founder will be organised at the site under the leadership of Behenji,” the release added. In the meeting, Mayawati reviewed the campaign to strengthen the party’s organisation and mass base on the ground by constituting committees from the district to booth level. She also expressed satisfaction over the pace of work saying that 80% of the task had been completed. All office-bearers from the party’s UP unit, who participated in the meeting, presented their progress reports on the campaign. The remaining work will be completed after the Oct 9 event. She also warned the party members about opposition parties secretly joining hands to weaken the BSP and its movement, so that Dalits, tribals, backwards, Muslims, and other religious minorities, who constitute the base of ‘Bahujan samaj’, could be deprived of their constitutional and legal rights. “Opposition parties want to deny people of golden opportunities they got during the govt of ‘Behenji’ and BSP,” the official statement said.Mayawati also expressed concern over the disrespect being shown to saints and great men, and places of worship, of various religions, in UP and other states. She also called out the political conspiracy behind this to disturb social, communal, and political situations in the states. “The govts should act strictly against such elements,” she said.To deal with the situation that has arisen from the 50% tariff imposed by the US, the BSP chief said that the BJP would have to adopt a reformist approach in its policies and programmes, keeping in mind the interest of the people and the country.
