IGP’s Jupiter Auditorium renovated, Mercury & Mars halls next | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the renovated Jupiter Auditorium at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Vibhuti Khand, Lucknow, and laid the foundation stone for the renovation of the Mercury and Mars halls on Saturday. The renovation work is being carried out by the Lucknow Development Authority as part of the city’s development initiatives. IGP was completed in 2010 and has since hosted govt functions, academic meetings, exhibitions, cultural programmes and social events. The Jupiter Auditorium has been fitted with a public address system similar to those used in airports. This allows announcements to reach people seated inside as well as those in the outer galleries. Work was also carried out on acoustic treatment, LED and focus lighting, stage and sound systems, furniture, carpeting, and improvements in the corridors, lobby and VVIP rooms.LDA Vice-Chairperson Prathamesh Kumar said, “The upgrade plan has been divided into three phases with an estimated cost of Rs 17.60 crore. The first phase, covering Jupiter Auditorium, has been completed. The hall has a capacity of 1,500 people. The second phase will involve Mars Hall, which seats 600, and the third will focus on Mercury Hall with a capacity of 400.”Kumar said, “The phased approach was necessary as the facility is booked for most of the year. In the last four years, the Pratishthan earned about Rs 32 crore from bookings. The ongoing renovation is being funded through this income.”According to LDA officials, no major renovation took place since its construction. Demand for the new and enhanced facilities was raised by the public as IGP remains the largest convention centre in Lucknow and can host multiple events at the same time.
