3 days after Behta firecracker blast claimed his parents’ life, youth also succumbs to injuries | Lucknow News
Lucknow: A 20-year-old youth injured in the Behta firecracker explosion on Aug 31 succumbed to his injuries at KGMU Trauma Centre late Thursday, three days after losing his parents in the same tragedy.Police said the victim, identified as Irshad, sustained severe burn injuries in the blast that ripped through his family’s home in the Behta area of Gudamba police limits. According to officials, the explosion took place while firecrackers and explosive material were being illegally manufactured inside the house of Alam. The blast killed Alam and his wife Munni on the spot, while their son Irshad and a visiting relative, Nadeem, suffered critical injuries. Both were rushed to the Trauma Centre, where Irshad died during treatment. Nadeem’s condition remains critical. The powerful explosion also left four neighbours injured, including Hurjahan, her son Jiyan, and a couple — Zaid and his wife Iram — who continue to receive treatment. Family members of the deceased alleged that Irshad’s death was due to inadequate medical care, claiming he did not receive timely and proper treatment. Relatives of Nadeem have raised similar concerns, alleging negligence is worsening his condition. Meanwhile, police have intensified search operations in the Behta and adjoining areas after two separate explosions that rocked the locality on the same day. Residents, fearing police action, were reportedly seen discarding firecrackers in streets, fields, and orchards. Locals also alleged that some individuals are secretly transporting and dumping raw explosive material in Barabanki district under the cover of darkness to evade raids. Police officials said awareness campaigns are being run in the village, warning that anyone found engaged in the illegal storage, sale, or manufacturing of firecrackers will face strict legal action.
