Devotees to bid green farewell to Ganesh | Lucknow News
Lucknow: As city heads towards conclusion of Ganesh Chaturthi festival, Lucknow Municipal Corporation has completed preparations for Ganesh Visarjan (immersion of idols). Officials emphasised safe, clean and eco-friendly environment for devotees and said LMC designated three artificial ponds at Jhulelal Vatika and Kudia Ghat, the preferred immersion sites. Each pond measures 22 feet in length, 15 feet in width, and 10 feet in depth. Last year, about 6,000 idols were immersed in these dedicated water bodies, reflecting growing public consciousness towards sustainable practices. “While some devotees had previously expressed concerns regarding size of ponds, LMC has taken measures to accommodate increased number of participants by expanding number of immersion sites,” an official said. Special cleanliness exercise was conducted at all festival and immersion locations. For ‘visarjan’ days from Sept 4 to 6, police and committees will give tokens. The crowd will be managed by police.LMC ensured adequate lighting along all routes leading to immersion sites. For safety, divers and boat operators will be stationed along Gomti riverbanks to respond promptly to emergencies.
