Boost cleanliness in city: LMC chief

Lucknow: Municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar on Monday carried out inspections of multiple zones and directed officials to enhance the cleanliness services and install pumps wherever necessary to clear waterlogging.He visited zones 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, directing officials to ensure immediate drainage of waterlogged areas by installing pumps and to keep drains clean to prevent further inconvenience to residents.At the primary collection transfer station (PCTS) centre in Vineet Khand, Kumar checked the records of vehicles deployed for garbage collection. He reviewed their presence, punctuality and adherence to routes, instructing staff to ensure timely departures so that no ward faces lapses in collection. Later, in Indira Nagar, he interacted with residents to take direct feedback on door-to-door collection. While some citizens shared distress over the garbage collection, the commissioner instructed officials to address deficiencies without delay.Kumar emphasised the need for heightened vigilance during the rainy season. He directed officials to step up drain and sewer cleaning and to strengthen garbage disposal systems to prevent health hazards. “Any negligence in cleanliness will not be tolerated. Zonal officers must carry out regular monitoring and resolve complaints promptly,” he said. Senior officers and sanitation staff accompanied him during the inspection.
