Boys lured with kites, forced to clean clinic’s water tank

Lucknow: Three boys, aged 8, 10 and 12, were allegedly held hostage inside a dental clinic, and forced to clean a water tank.Police said that the boys were playing on Aug 22 evening when two women and a man approached them. They offered kites as bait and coaxed the children to accompany them inside the clinic. “The children were reportedly told they would not be released until they scrubbed the tank, and threatened that if they refused, it would cost them their lives. For nearly three hours, the boys cleaned the tank,” a police officer said.When the children were allowed to leave, the boys reached their home and narrated their ordeal to their family members who confronted the clinic staff only to be abused.An FIR was lodged under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on charges of intimidation, wrongful confinement, and assault. “We are scanning CCTV footage from the clinic and nearby areas to trace the culprits,” said SHO, Gomtinagar, BC Tiwari.
