Gangster Dubey gets life term in 1995 murder case | Lucknow News
Lucknow: A Farrukhabad court on Wednesday sentenced gangster-politician Anupam Dubey and his associate Balkishan alias Shishu to life imprisonment in the sensational daylight murder of PWD contractor Shamim in 1995.Additional district and sessions judge, Farrukhabad Tarun Kumar Singh also imposed a fine of Rs 1.03 lakh each on both the convicts. Shamim was brazenly shot dead in a crowded market on July 26, 1995. The case was registered against four people at Kotwali Fatehgarh police station on the complaint of Naseem, the brother of the deceased. Two other accused died during the pendency of the trial. Currently in Mathura jail, in 2023, Dubey, 55, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of inspector Ram Niwas Yadav. “Both were revenge killings. Anupam Dubey’s father Mahesh was lynched by a mob after his jeep ran over and killed a child in 1995. Anupam, who was also injured, killed Gursahaiganj SHO Ram Niwas Yadav for allegedly failing to save his father, while PWD contractor Shamim was eliminated as he was part of the mob,” SP Farrukhabad Arti Singh told TOI. Singh said that Dubey, a state-identified mafia, first entered the world of crime in 1987. Since then, he has amassed a staggering 65 cases across Uttar Pradesh, involving murder, dacoity, extortion, land grabs, fraud, and ransom. His gang was officially registered as Gang D-47 with history sheets opened for all its members. As per govt estimate, Dubey has built an empire worth over Rs 171 crore through crime, spread across vehicles, land, and houses registered in his and his associates’ names. These assets were seized under the UP Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act.Eight licensed weapons belonging to him and his family were also cancelled and deposited in police custody.
