UP intensifies relief ops amid flood 2nd wave | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Various parts of UP are facing second wave of flood as heavy rains lashed hills and several parts of the Gangetic Plains. As water level of many rivers rise, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday directed officials to intensify relief operations and ensure continuous monitoring of the situation.Yogi said relief and rescue operations should be carried out without delay and all facilities provided to those in relief camps. Relief commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami said that as of Tuesday, 768 villages across 22 districts were affected by floods, impacting 2,52,839 people. Over 3,000 people were moved to 278 flood shelters. Additionally, 33,370 cattle were relocated to safer places. The officer added that despite the rising waters, no homes were reported damaged by Tuesday morning. More than 37,279 hectares of land were reported inundated on Tuesday. “Relief is being delivered with the help of 550 boats and motorboats. On Tuesday alone, 6,458 food packets and 7,143 lunch packets were distributed in affected regions. State govt is ensuring not only safety and well-being of people and livestock in flood-hit areas. Continuous distribution of fodder for cattle is underway. To prevent waterborne diseases, 11,022 chlorine tablets and 5,049 ORS packets have been provided,” said a govt spokesperson.As of Tuesday, 1,022 flood posts were operational to monitor situation round-the-clock. Districts that reported flood included Varanasi, Prayagraj, Auraiya, Bahraich, Banda, Mirzapur, Kanpur Dehat, Chandauli, Fatehpur, Kanpur Nagar, Barabanki, Badaun and Unnao.
