Lucknow: Kashi Rudras registered their sixth straight win when they defeated Gorakhpur Lions by 6 wickets and 24 balls to spare in a low-scoring game in the ongoing UPT20 league at Ekana stadium on Monday.Kashi bowlers restricted Gorakhpur at 132/8 and Rudras achieved the target in 16 overs to remain on the top of the table with 12 points.Batting first, Gorakhpur Lions crumbled to 22/4 in the powerplay. Siddhartha Yadav (13) and Bhaskar Bhardawaj (19) contributed in the middle order. Nishant Kushwah (42) and Hardeep Singh (26) built a crucial partnership of 48 runs in 22 balls for the seventh wicket to prop up the total. For Kashi Rudras, Atal Bihari Rai finished 3/31, followed by Mavi claiming 2/20 while Shiva Singh, Kartik Yadav and Sunil Kumar bagged one wicket each.Chasing the target, Deepak Rana (34) and skipper Karan Sharma (17) gave a steady start, and the team stood at 52/1 in powerplay. Uvais Ahmad was caught by Nishant Kushwah off Vasu Vats in the next over. Upendra Yadav missed his fifty by 8 runs, smashing 42 off 29 with four boundaries and two sixes. The middle order Yadav and Shubham Chaubey (28) established a solid partnership of 65 runs off 50 balls for the fourth wicket to take the team to victory.Meanwhile, in another match, Kanpur Superstars registered their first win in UPT20 League after five straight defeats they got the better of Meerut Mavericks in the rain-hit match on Monday afternoon.Kanpur were ahead on the DLS method when the Meerut run-chase was stalled because of rain. Once they went off the field, they could not return due to rain. Kanpur won by 14 runs via DLS method.Batting first, Faiz Ahmed (23) and Shaurya Singh (21) gave Kanpur a steady start but they lost 49/2 in 7.3 overs. Kanpur skipper Sameer Rizvi smashed 78 off 48 balls with seven boundaries and five sixes. He helped the team put up a fighting total of 149/6 in 20 overs.Mavericks were shaken early and were 12/2 in 3.5 overs. Swastik Chikara (29) and Madhav Kaushik (4) were at the crease when rain stopped the match with Mavericks 41/2 in eight overs when the winning score was 56 runs according to DLS calculation.
